what a fun show! sold lots of puppets! the best part was seeing everyone’s reactions and watching people play with them. aw, y’all are pretty great.

new puppets.
pics here:
day 6. that’s a lot of days.
well, im pretty burnt out. i dont recommend making 10 puppets at one go ahead. here is today:
got all the arms sewed on.

then everyone got ready for their eyes:

got their eyes! now just in line for teeth…

teeth for some!

and then i had enough. the rest of the tweaks will take place tomorrow and tuesday. need to see how i react to them after a day of not looking at them. so far, i like where they ended up. i positioned the eyes in a few different places to give them character and some have mean teeth and some are just plain goofy. here’s hoping someone is drawn to each of them. they’d all love a good home.

saturday. day 5.
hope you’re excusing the phone camera…it sure does love making everything just a little bit yellow.
my hands are starting to hurt. i think they’re just raw from the glue gun burns today and then later stabbing them accidentally over and over with the needle. i’ve watched/listened to so many documentaries and episodes of intervention this weekend. helps me not focus on the boring repetition. anyway here’s today:
started with some heads needing their felt mouths. i picked out some colors for everyone and got to sewing.

after i sewed the felt in, the heads sat and waited patiently.

i worked with foam today to make their mouthplates and foam skulls which will go in tomorrow.

after a little break i figured i’d see how many heads i could attach to the bodies. turns out all of them!

i decided i didnt want to get the hot glue going again for the night, so i’ll give them their mouths and skulls tomorrow. in the meantime, i got started on the paws. i got half of them done before calling it a night. and that’s where i ended up. hopefully, tomorrow i’ll get the rest of the arms on, install all the foam and get to work on the face and character traits. i should have some finished puppets tomorrow! woohoo!

day four!
holy crap that was a long day of sewing, but it was the one i was dreading the most, so hopefully it’ll go a lot quicker from here on out. 20 arms sewn and stuffed. woo. first they looked like this all inside out:

then i had to turn them right side out and fill em full of soft stuff.

then i sewed in all the soft stuff and ended up with a pile of paws. whew. tomorrow will be mouths and hopefully all the foam skull work.

end of day two.
end of day 2 and ive got 10 heads and 10 bodies (all inside out, dont worry). next step: twenty paws. woo, im gonna need some more good docs. that pearl jam one suprisingly was good. got me through the heads!

making 10 puppets in a week. due dec. 1st.
that’s the goal anyway. i thought i’d document the process and see how close i can come to this goal. it started out with over 2 hours of cutting all different colored furs and then last night and this morning i ended up with 10 new bodies (all inside out) plus i got a head start on all the heads! hoping to get the other six heads done by tonight or tomorrow morning.
this is just crazy trying to fit it in between a full time job and the holidays! eeee! hopefully they come out cute and somebody wants to take them home.

first thursday in december.
i’ll be at a table sellin puppets at first thursday in pioneer square (seattle). will post more details later, but it’s comin up real quick. better start sewing…

goal0 video contest
guess what? i got chosen to participate in a video contest for goal0! they’re a super awesome solar powered gear company. there’s only 10 of us (im the only girl!) and they’re sending us a free kit that we get to use to make the video. of course im insanely excited about this. you’ll have to vote for me when the time comes! i think voting starts the end of october. the turn around time for this video is intense, especially because i want to animate it. woo! so wish me luck!
